New garage door installation
New garage door installation in Manchester, NH
The bottom section is rusting through, the panels are cracked, or the door is a builder-grade unit from the 1990s on its third set of springs. Sometimes a repair is the wrong spend. We measure the opening, order an insulated steel door built to it, install it with all new hardware, and haul the old door away.

When it is time
Signs a door is at the end
-
Rust through the bottom section
Salt got it. Once the steel is perforated, the section will not hold a seal or a bracket.
-
Cracked or delaminated panels
The skin is separating from the insulation, or a wood door is rotting at the rails. It will not get better.
-
The third spring set on a builder door
Light-gauge doors from the 1990s flex more every year. At some point the door is the problem, not the springs.
-
Cold garage, high heating bill
An uninsulated door over an attached garage leaks heat into the house all winter. An insulated door pays for some of itself.
-
It never was the right size
Old detached garages with a door that was shimmed to fit. A door built to the actual opening seals and runs right.
What we do
Measured to the opening, installed with new everything
We measure the width, height, headroom, side room, and backroom, and order a door built to those numbers. Insulated steel in a two-inch or three-layer section is the standard choice here, with the R-value for an attached garage. Windows, carriage-style overlays, and colors are your call.
Installation includes new springs sized to the new door, new track, rollers, hinges, cables, drums, bottom seal, and perimeter weatherstrip. The opener gets adjusted to the new weight, or replaced if it is due. The old door and hardware go with us.

Doors for the houses around here
On the West Side and in the North End, a lot of detached garages take a single-car door in a width nobody stocks. We order to the inch. The ranches and capes on the east side and toward Hooksett usually take a standard two-car door and are the simplest jobs on the schedule. Out in Bedford, Londonderry, and Hollis, the wide two-car and three-car doors from the 1990s subdivisions are coming up for replacement all at once.
New Hampshire winters argue for an insulated door on any attached garage, and for a good bottom seal on every door, because that is where the ice forms.
Questions we get on the phone
New garage door questions
-
How much does a new door cost?
It depends on size, insulation, style, and windows. We measure, bring options, and give you a written price. The estimate is free and there is no obligation.
-
How long from order to install?
Standard sizes and colors are usually a week or two. Custom widths and finishes take longer, and we tell you the date when we order.
-
How long does installation take?
Most of a day for a single door, including hauling the old one away.
-
Do I need a new opener too?
Not always. If the old opener is in good shape we adjust it to the new door. If it is near the end, this is the cheapest time to replace it, and we will say either way.
-
Can you match the door on my other bay?
Usually. Bring us a photo or we look on site.
