Our own side of the river first. Rimmon Heights, Notre Dame, and Piscataquog are full of houses from the 1900s through the 1930s with detached garages set back on narrow driveways. Single-car doors in widths nobody makes anymore, wood doors, extension springs, and openers older than the owners. We carry the parts for those and know how to fit a new door into an opening that is an inch off.

Across the river, the North End has the same era of house with bigger garages behind it. On the east side, out toward Lake Massabesic and up toward Hooksett, the post-war ranches and capes in Hallsville, Wellington, and Youngsville have attached garages on their second or third opener and, often, their original springs.

On the south side of the city and out toward Bedford and Londonderry, the two-car and three-car insulated doors from the 1990s and 2000s subdivisions are reaching the age where springs and openers go at the same time. Same trucks, same day.

• Do you charge to come look at the door?

  No. There is never a service charge or trip charge. The tech looks at the door, says what failed and what it costs, and waits for a yes before touching anything.

• Can you fit a new door on an old West Side garage?

  Yes. Odd widths and low headroom on detached garages from the 1920s are normal for us. We measure, order the door to the opening, and swap the hardware so it runs right.
